Observability Engineer
Work on observability and be a significant part of the chain monitoring within NN! Do you have the motivation and perseverance to apply your Java, Python, Cloud and Splunk knowledge within our observability environment? Then we have an exciting challenge for you!
What you are going to do
You will build, maintain and coach around our observability tool JMonitor, a custom-made tool in Java. Together with your observability colleagues you setup Splunk dashboards and coach users how to make good use of this within their business unit. And we are also working on OpenTelemetry and introducing a new Observability tool where you can help us set this up from the beginning.
What else do you do?
- Actively discuss the desired functionalities with users
- Implement the functionalities in JMonitor and surrounding systems link Splunk
- Monitor the quality and integrate your product into the already available facilities
- Work in a team and function as a backup for your colleagues
- Coach your colleagues on skills that you excel in

You are curious and have good conceptual thinking. Naturally, you have:
- Sharp understanding and interest in technologies that make the work of IT professionals easier
- Minimum 5+ years of Java experience
- Knowledge of JavaScript, Infra and Cloud (AWS/Azure)
- Knowledge of Splunk
- Ability to independently take on projects
- Ability to coach / train people in your product
Who you will work with
You will join the Observability team of 8 professionals working from The Netherlands and Spain, each technically or functionally skilled and always on the lookout for the latest developments. You certainly won’t stay in your own JMonitor / Java bubble: your team is on the Splunk platform and collaborates closely with other technical engineers with whom you exchange a lot of knowledge. This interconnectedness with the rest of NN is certainly a pleasant aspect of this job. It is a job full of challenges and dynamism.
